2008 Used Book Collection
The Friends of the Salem Public Library have started their used
book collection. Wanted are used books, videos, tapes, CD’s and software in
good condition. Encyclopedias, out of date textbooks, condensed books and
magazines are not desired as there is little demand for these items. Children’s
books in good condition of all types are also wanted. The donated items can be
dropped off in the collection boxes at the Salem Library at 264 Hartford Rd.
Help can be obtained with large donations by calling 859 –0165. The Used Book
Sale will be held on October 25th and 26th at the Salem
School Gym.

Did you know that the Town of Salem has sent five servicemen to Iraq and Afghanistan? Of the five who
have served at these locations, one is still there but will be coming back in
March of 2007. Volunteers and members of the Book Club have been sending
care packages to these individuals during the past year. In early
January, one of the servicemen who has returned came
to thank members of the Book Club at one of their meetings. Here's a
picture of Brent Walker, along with his mother, who
told us that the boxes we sent were the best ones!

If anyone is interested in taking part in collecting items
to be included in a box overseas, or if you have a relative currently serving
in Iraq or Afghanistan, and would like to have help putting a box together,
please call Bobbie Ziegra. Her number is
859-0609, or you can email her at bobbieziegra@yahoo.com.
